36,234% increase in fines…

Shocking data for a speed camera where the council have reduced the speed limit from 40mph to 30mph has just been released…

The camera in question is on Ringwood Road in Bournemouth.

Here are the raw stats:

– In 2020 it “caught”: 39 Motorists;
– In 2021 it was 55;
– In 2022 it was 32.

However, as soon as the council decided to reduce the speed limit by 10mph in September 2023, the figures skyrocketed to:

– In 2024: 11,595 Motorists were “caught” on the camera!

That’s a 36,234% — yes, a Thirty Six Thousand percent — increase.

Assuming these were all minimum fines of £100 (which is extremely unlikely), that’s an income of £1.6 Million from just this single camera.

As these criminals …sorry I mean “councils” are keen to point out however, such speed limit changes are actually all about safety and not money.

Its shocking that some people — who are presumably suffering from some form of Stockholm Syndrome still believe this…

Thankfully, however, they do seem to be very much in the minority now.

My personal opinion is that a mass realisation that governments, councils, police etc. are all part of the same criminal enterprise is now well underway.

However the logical next step may be a lot harder for many to swallow…

It will, in my opinion, be the mass exit of people from compliance.

I’m aware that’s a lot for most to contemplate, but its certainly the inevitable solution in my opinion…

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this idea in the comments here!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend — the weather looks great where I am :-)

P.S. On a lighter note, I’m starting a brand new YouTube channel called Adam Drives.

In it I drive some REALLY nice cars both on the road and on track.

We’ve already shot the first 4 videos: Mercedes SLK55; Aston Martin DB9; BMW M4 CS; Mercedes ML63.

They’re not released yet, but if you’d like to subscribe to the channel so you see them when they are released, you can do so here:

  1. It occurred to me that the police have probably been subject to the same Tory and Labour austerity as nurses and teachers. Yet policing continues. This could explain why they have become so enthusiastic (vicious) in fining motorists. We are paying for the expensive and excellent police pension scheme, as well as regular law enforcement. Why should motorists carry this burden? Is there any prospect of it ending?

  2. How else are they expected to house and feed all the illegals?

Another question, where do all the fines actually go I’d really like to see a factual breakdown covering motoring, police and courts etc.

  3. Take a look at the A20 Sidcup then ,view those stats from 24/25.
Approximately 67000 people caught when a BOGUS 50 mph sign was put up in between 2 40mph signs near the BP garage .
Met police were challenged over it ,they admitted it was a BOGUS limit put up by an unknown party,
But still prosecuted people over it .
Some people even lost their licenses because of it and I believe 2 were doctors and 1 was a judge .
I was caught 2 ,now have 6 points on my licence.
    Not amused .

  4. I moved to wales november 23 and have been back home, manchester, bury and noticed alot of speed changes, dropped by at least 10mph in one place that used to be 40 is now 20 and another was 60 now 30 with the smallest of 30 signs but at least the 20 is on the road surface and well signed prior. Im waiting for our 20 to be back to 30 as everyone else.

  5. How does one exit from compliance? I’m fed up with all this over policing not to mention the Stasi methods increasingly employed with dash cams being used to report people without any police involvement, I travel extensively and it’s a question of time before one falls foul of one of the traps

    • Hi Mike. I wrote a blog post that kind of hinted at the best way of doing it at the start of the year: https://btst.co.uk/hope/ Essentially you have to be brave enough to say “no” and not to comply with the tyrannical aggressors. I think as more and more people come around to this way of thinking, people as a group will find it easier and easier to do from a psychological point of view.

  6. I’m going to start with a short story. In ancient Rome when the Senators wanted to pass a new law, it had to be voted on by the populous.. if they didn’t agree, it didn’t happen. Cicero, as you may know, was a well-known orator at the time. And he said the following.” this is a warning of what happens to any state which has a permanent staff of officials. They begin as our servants and end up imagining themselves our masters.”. This is the state we live in now.. the populous now does not have a say in legislations. They are thrust upon us without consultation. They are not governing us for our good they are governing us the way they want, to make something out of it. We do not live in a Democratic society anymore.

  7. Good. That’s 11,595 inattentive motorists taught an expensive lesson then. These people are the dangerous ones, so grow up fgs.

  8. Hmmm, so when exactly was the last time the populace were consulted had a day in a piece of legislation then? It’s never happened has it? The post all sounds very well read and erudite, but the incorrect spelling of ‘populace’ is a giveaway. I think poppycock would be more appropriate.

    • Hi Pete, the word you referenced only appears when you have typed it. Even if the argument that a spelling error invalidates an entire argument (which of course it doesn’t), you appear to have fabricated the supposed error?

  9. Hi Adam, can you send me a contact email address regarding my Talex.
I have noticed a couple of errors that you need to know about,
I can then detail you some issues regarding it not being up to Date,
on The M3 M25 / M4, mainly regarding the end of average speed sections
    thanks Tony

  10. The Ringwood Road speed camera is still being reported as a 40mph limit by the Talex 3. I submitted a notification on the website that the limit had reduced to 30mph about this one a long while ago. The signage on the new Ringwood Road 30mph limit was not updated for a number of weeks on the North Eastern approach (from the Ferndown direction) so was technically still 40mph as you entered the new reduced limit.

The Talex is also is also out of date on a number of other cameras. The Talex 3 firmware was updated in March 2022 to overcome a non updating bug so I am assuming that my unit is working correctly.

  11. Hi Adam, the mass non-compliance you advocate will result in mass pursuit by Debt Collectors and the problems that entails. Instead of enriching Councils, Debt Collectors, why not harness the goodwill of concerned citizens and publish a Checklist of all the steps necessary to establish a Legal speed restriction/change thereof? Time and time again I hear of successful challenges to Restrictions found to be improperly implemented, when closely examined. You have advised us of circumstances, like Notification out of time, when Fines can be contested and I’m sure there’s a lot more you can tell us. Thank you for everything you do.
