For months now I’ve been pondering just what the government are up to with simultaneously closing thousands of roads across the UK without any explanation.
I just knew that it had to be something nefarious, and that it is likely a “conspiracy”, which will
be good for the government and bad for us…
But I couldn’t quite put my finger on it …until last night.
As I was driving home, looking at temporary traffic lights with hanging wires between them that look as though they belong in the Congo rather than in a supposed “first world” country, it hit me…
The Billions upon Billions of pounds of our money have been spent digging up all the roads, at our huge inconvenience, to facilitate…
The Brand New Orwellian “Pay Per Mile” Scheme!
It makes perfect sense now.
In case you don’t know — and because I refuse to watch the mainstream media, I didn’t until last week, when a BTST Member, Peter, pointed it out — the government have now decided
to extort us by the mile!
I can just picture the meeting where this plan was “agreed” (amongst themselves):
Bob Blue: “We need a way of milking our herd harder. Any ideas Robin?”
Robin Red: “Well the UK is one of the most surveilled countries in the World now. The herd has got used to it. So why don’t we just do more of that? We can just charge them every time they appear on one of our cameras!
Bob Blue: “Brilliant! How much will we need to steal from them to pay for this?
Robin Red: “Well it doesn’t really matter, does it? But why don’t we say £100 Billion? There’s the added bonus that we can also claim the economy is strong, because this will employ 50,000 of them!
Bob Blue: “And how much will it raise? You know that bombing kids in other countries is not cheap old chap!
Robin Red: “Our projections show that it will raise an additional £2.5 Billion per month.
Bob Blue: “So payback in just 3 Months?!
Robin Red: “I didn’t know you were good at maths Bob!
Bob Blue: “Well, I went to the same school as you Robin!
Robin Red: “The herd are so lucky to have us governing them…
Bob Blue: “You are so right Robin! I just can’t understand why they show us so little gratitude…
…okay so I got a little carried away there. But I think you get the point?
These megalomaniacs think they can get away with surveilling and extorting us, and getting US to pay for it!
I for one am not planning to play ball with them.
How about other BTST Members?
Let me know what you think about the rumored new “pay per mile” road tax in the comments below…
All the best,
Adam
P.S. We’re not planning to keep the template letters that just had John’s speeding ticket cancelled open for very long. If you want a copy, there is a short time window to get them:
If you haven’t yet done so, you can get your copy here: Link
It’s an absolute joke of a scheme but it’s like in the movies don’t be surprised to see us microchipped eventually.
We already “pay per mile” when we buy, and use, petrol/diesel, the price of which includes much tax and is used to travel per mile.
So what would be the point of introducing a structure which would measure how many mile we drive, when all that is needed is MORE tax on fuel (if that is what HMG wants)
David
That is an interesting question David…..
I don’t know if you’ve heard of these electric vehicle thingies. They don’t run on petrol or diesel so government has to come up with an alternative roue to getting money out of drivers. And yes, EVs aren’t yet here in overwhelming numbers but that doesn’t stop plans being laid.
In London, President Khan has never convincingly denied the ppm scheme as it was clear that the hated ULEZ camera network could be applied to it. There have been reports that there is a working group within Tfl already working on this scheme.
I believe he prefers to be called The Great Leader.
I Agree and i have no intention of filling khans coffers. We must object and have a mass gathering of vehicles to demonstrate our point of view.
Put false plates on your car,and drive as many miles as you want, simple.
I think most people are too fearful to do this Dave. We have all been conditioned since birth to believe that the big bad government will lock us away for life if we don’t do what they say. I completely respect you if you do this, but most seem to believe that YOU are the criminal if you do. I do think that the tides are slowly changing though and that as the government becomes more and more repressive, people are beginning to see reality.
Just because you’re a conspiracy theorist – it doesn’t mean there isn’t a conspiracy. No one has any trust in national or local government these days. Why would they? After Covid and the ‘climate crisis’ – who would be willing to attribute anything benign to any scheme cooked up by our public representatives?
Isn’t road pricing intended for EV drivers, since the govt. can’t milk these at the pumps? Or will it somehow be extended to drivers of conventional vehicles too? What’s not to like for our increasingly authoritarian governments? All that lovely surveillance – and money too!
Here’s the rap, They are from a different race to the general public, you and me, and average normal people, who just want to get ahead, and do good things for their neighbours. Calling people racists, is a big thing for them, as they are a different race.
They see us as their underlings, but always need to get more control, as they are concerned that we might be able to a) suss the reality, and b) learn how to escape their plans. They are working on many fronts, not just in the physical arena. Just need to learn how to empower yourselves.
Interesting!
HM Government can never do anything in a coordinated fashion except be totally uncoordinated in the chaos that can be heaped upon us mere mortals!
Indeed, I have noted the miles of roadworks with associated average speed cameras.
The family game is now to spot the road worker and, for a bonus point, the one in a white hardhat on his mobile phone!
As for using the M20 as a lorry park…..I have nothing but scorn for that and the shameful way lorry drivers are treated.
Regarding the loss of VED with the encouragement to sign up for EVs, it was obvious to anybody (outside the Treasury that is) that a black hole would open up.
I strongly oppose the setting of road tolls in any form. I only use the Dartford Crossing at £2 because it is now cheaper that Kingdom Khan at £12.50 a day.
Is anybody going to attempt to justify the cost of M6 toll?
Been planned for years. What do you think that Suqdiq’s ULEZ scameras we’re all about? It was infrastructure by stealth, nothing more!
I wonder how many will choose to register their vehicles in other countries as a result of this blatant extortion?
It’s not straightforward to drive around in the UK in a foreign-registered vehicle if you yourself are not also a matching foreign citizen. When you bring it to this country, it will be subject to import duty and VAT (and registration with DVLA, which of course defeats the purpose of your idea) unless you can show it’s a temporary import. To do that, however, you have to show that you’re just a visitor to the UK and the vehicle is not supposed to spend longer than six months (out of 12) in this country.
I suspect also that not every insurer will be keen to cover non-UK registered vehicles, especially when the potential policyholder declares that he was born in the UK, is a British citizen and has lived here all his life!
highway robbery !!!!!!!!!
I moved out of Britain, its a joke these days as you cant even move about easily. too much traffic and inadequate roads.
Personally, I think it’s for the 15 minute cities but you might be right.
There has to be a way of telling them NO, in a clear and unmistakable way, without resorting to violence.
Surely there is a lawful way to stop them in their tracks?
The problem is that they make the “laws” (legislation), most of which (as far as I understand) conflict with the Magna Carta, which is now a relic of history as far as they are concerned. My opinion is its best to avoid and ignore them but I know most don’t agree…
Avoding not everyone can do. Ignoring them will give them more power to do as they please – since they are already enpowered by the system. There is no acountability. All working togather living the life of luxury at our expense. As to magna carta even the courts ignore it… How are you going to go against the master!!!
I saw this coming.
The government is hell bent on net zero.
They want us to spend our hard earned (Taxed) money on so called better Electric vehicles.
So when this happens and after they have increased the price of fuel so we are forced into changing to E.V.
Suddenly the tax revenue from fuel that they’re missing will have to come from somewhere maybe increasing tax on Electricity or Toll roads.
Probably both, they’ve already had a test run increasing the price of Electricity.
Start a petition. ? Develop a new political party “Road Freedom” ? The George Orwell Society?
Everyone who joins has to refuse to pay. They can’t jail us all
The Gov will find a way to penalise anyone using a car – where ever you are and what ever sort of combustion/Elec vehicle. Where we live it’s a bus once a week on roads that should be completely dug and resurfaced. Pah.
Nothing new here. The sensor strips have been appearing in our roads
For 10 or 12 years now. Just look when you drive along A Road or motorway, you will see these every few hundred yards. Look fo the thin black tar stripes
It’s a step too far, if they implement that then I’m outa here, most expensive fuel in the world as it is, road tax doesn’t get spent on the roads any longer, it all goes into the pot, so what is the purpose of this? Simply more tax. How much more are they going to squeeze the pip, it’s enough, if they want more money tighten up on their wastage and stop buying 4×4 BMW’s – tighten their belts – btw have you noticed the increase in undercover police cars or is it just me?
I have…its a police state :-( Recently went to France with the family and the difference is profound…
Why would they spend billions of pounds digging up roads to lay cable for road pricing when all they have to do is make it mandatory to have a black box fitted in your vehicle such as the ones insurance companies already use for Telematics insurance? The technology already exists, it’s cheap (especially as we’d have to pay for it!) and works everywhere including minor roads.
I think this is a sensible point, Jay. Trackers in cars seems harder but is actually probably easier than putting in masses of fixed sensors everywhere. As you say, there is already vehicle tracking via some kinds of insurance. At least people who buy those policies do so knowingly and must accept the knowledge of being monitored. People also fit trackers to their vehicles for security – again, that’s a voluntary choice.
There’s also perhaps less obvious stuff like cars with in-car wifi hotspots, cars that can call 999 if a serious crash is detected (usually anything with airbags triggered) or that are capable of receiving over-the-air software updates. All of those things rely on an on-board SIM card, so while you’re driving around inside a giant mobile phone, probably with another one with you as well, remember your location is constantly known to the mobile phone networks.
It is only a matter of time before little black boxes are installed in all cars to automatically charge for mileage used and issue speeding fines, It will be coined as an easy way to pay as you drive and freeing up resources to deal with other crimes (and sleep in the lay-by)
WHY DONT THEY JUST PUT £5-00 EXTRA ON THE ROAD TAX
It’s obvious what Khan was doing when he expanded his U.L.E.Z. to cover all of his domain. For now the infrastructure is now in place, surely it’s only a matter of time. But wait, his supporters wail, he’s promised not to do that! Well, he made another promise a few years ago, NOT to expand U.L.E.Z. And look how that promise got ratted on.
Apparently there really was a previous Mayor of London named Dick Whittington, although he possibly didn’t come to be in that position as according to the rhyme. However this present incumbent is far closer in manner to another famous Dick.
Turpin!
