74 year old John Anderson, who has spent the last 15 months fighting a speeding “offence” has just had the case against him dropped :-)
John was accused by West Yorkshire police in June 2023 of driving at an unbelievably reckless 60mph on a motorway slip road!
As you can see below, the road in question (between the M621 and M1) should quite clearly have a 20mph speed limit…
However John — the maniac he clearly is — decided to drive at an eye watering speed of 60mph!
He then decided to confront the brave men and woman of West Yourkshire “police” in Court…
He submitted dashcam footage in evidence, which proved that their temporary 50mph scam…I mean speed limit…was not in fact displayed.
Legislation — for those who care about such nonsense — states that “adequate signage” must be displayed for a Motorist to be convicted of speeding.
This is extremely non-specific, however even the CPS finally realised they had no chance of
winning in Court.
So they decided to drop the charges the day before he was due in Court…
John spent ~£12,000 in legal fees to prepare his defense (this is why its worth being a Member of DriveProtect) while simultaneously undergoing treatment for skin cancer.
He described the treatment he received from West Yorkshire Police, National Highways and the CPS as “disgusting”.
His repeated attempts to contact them about his dashcam footage — which proved there was no speed limit displayed — were simply ignored.
“I can’t explain my feelings. It’s taken over my entire life” he said.
His Wife, 81, said that the last 15 months had been “absolute hell”.
The brave Men and Woman of West Yorkshire “police” declined to comment to the BBC.
We did not bother to ask them…
Is this really what this country has come to?
Harassing and extorting Pensioners who’ve worked their entire lives and contributed to society, because they drive at 60mph on a motorway?
Sadly, there is no need to answer, because that’s a rhetorical question…

Claim against the police for the costs involved, and include own time costs at £150 per hour.
He should definitely claim his costs and compensation for stress and inconvenience caused by this ridiculous situation.
Where is the Government to allow this waste of money by their own employees?
The reason that they drop the case before it reaches court, is because if they lose the case, they have to not only cover the court costs, but also because every body else who was sent speeding tickets for the same stretch of road, who likely, put their hands up because they were too intimidated too argue, and accepted the fine and points, would have good reason to appeal, and get their money and points returned by court.
As it stands, they are still guilty of the offence, as they admitted it.

This is a great example of the argument against people who say “if you don’t do anything wrong then you have nothing to fear”.

Let’s be clear here, this isn’t the “Police” being bloody-minded, it’s some Civilian pen-pusher in an Office in a position of Power who is determined to abuse it.
Like so many who have gone before him, they all have their little monthly KPI targets to hit, and it’s taxpayers money that is the bottomless pit that allow both them and the Criminal Protection Service to allow themselves free reign to do as they please. You can see the legacy that Starmeroid left there in what plays out today. Corrupt to the core, from the top down.

It’s all about money.
He should take the police to court and get his cost back. They do that all the time.
If the courts are unbiased he will succeed.
